The USADA wants to find out whether you have ever taken steroids, EPO, HGH and/or other prohibited substances. This fact may surprise you but the anti-doping organization doesn’t intend yet to stop the investigation connected with Lance Armstrong’s doping case. So, the investigation has not been ended. The USADA wants to investigate every cyclist. Especially suspected steroid users will be investigated.
The USADA wants to apply the best ways in order to catch those that have ever administered forbidden preparations. What is the best method to clean cycling of steroid use? The USADA tries to determine and utilize the best methods. This anti-doping organization is even ready to compare elimination of steroid use in cycling with that in South Africa.
The USADA states that those that administer steroids and other related drugs should be punished. Users of steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs are demonized as if they were criminals. They are frequently compared with those who commit violence and other serious crimes. Steroids are harshly blamed in the society. Thus, the USADA suggests that if steroids and users of steroids are demonized, it will be easier to eliminate doping.
Actually, the USADA asks the International Cycling Association to set up a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The commission will investigate different cases connected with doping. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission will try to determine why certain cyclists have administered steroids and/or other performance-enhancing drugs but avoided detection.
Furthermore, the USADA promises that “amnesty” will be provided to those who admit to using steroids and/or other prohibited medications, ask for forgiveness, repent and tell everything related to doping to the anti-doping agency, team physicians, teammates, friends, etc. If a former consumer of steroids says only truth, he will get the full amnesty. Thus, the USADA hopes to clean cycling totally.
Travis Tygart, the CEO of the USADA, says that there are several cyclists connected with Lance Armstrong that have avoided detection. They should be identified by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
